The widow of slain UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson faced her husband's killer in court for the first time on Friday, as Luigi Mangione pleaded guilty to federal charges associated with the assassination.

Mangione told the court he called UnitedHealthcare posing as an investor to locate Thompson before the December 4 killing. He also admitted to using a 3-D printer to make a gun and shooting Thompson in Manhattan on that morning.

Prior to making his guilty plea, Mangione was asked by Judge Margaret Garnett if he understood the maximum sentence he could receive is life in prison. He responded 'Yes.'
