Mangione's State Trial Postponed Amid Double Jeopardy Challenge

Mangione pleaded guilty to federal charges related to the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, admitting he stalked and killed Thompson in 2024. In his statement, Mangione expressed frustration with the U.S. healthcare system due to his own severe back pain experience.

Thompson was fatally shot after Mangione followed him to a Midtown Manhattan hotel where UnitedHealth Group's annual investor conference was being held. Mangione had gained access by posing as an investor and researching the event.
