Marist University, IBM Partner to Launch AI Incubator
Marist University has partnered with IBM to launch an AI incubator on its Poughkeepsie, New York campus. The incubator is built around an IBM z17 mainframe and will provide students across disciplines access to enterprise computing for AI research, application development, and career-focused projects.
The partnership expands a 50-year relationship between Marist and IBM and marks a shift away from treating AI and digital skills as the preserve of computing students. The incubator aims to involve different academic schools and disciplines in interdisciplinary projects.
Initial areas of work include controlled synthetic marketing campaigns using autonomous AI agents, applying quantum optimization algorithms to real-time financial data, and researching how AI can be used in polling methodology.
