Mark III Wins Massive Nvidia AI Factory Deal, Signals Shift in Enterprise AI Strategy
Nvidia's Vera Rubin NVL72 system is gaining traction in the market as more enterprises look for cheaper alternatives to closed frontier models. Mark III Systems, a systems integrator, has won what could be the largest deployment of such platforms for an enterprise customer in the channel.
The deal was revealed by TD Synnex CEO Patrick Zammit during the distributor's third-quarter earnings call last Thursday. The customer is a Fortune 100 company based in the United States and will receive Nvidia AI factory infrastructure powered by Vera Rubin NVL72 systems.
According to Andy Lin, CTO and vice president of strategy and innovation at Mark III, the customer win serves as another validation point for his company's capabilities in delivering and integrating systems. 'You can only learn it through running clusters,' he said, referring to the expertise gained from delivering around eight AI server clusters based on Nvidia's DGX SuperPod designs with TD Synnex since 2023.
Many enterprises are looking for alternatives to closed frontier models due to their high cost and unpredictability. Lin stated that 'not only is it extremely expensive, but it's extremely unpredictable in what they might be.' He added that many employees use these models for every task, causing the bills to get out of control quickly.
