Marvell Gives Google a Stake in Success
Alphabet's significant investment in its AI infrastructure is creating opportunities for Marvell Technology. The company has issued Google a warrant for up to 58.97 million shares, which would be worth around $12.2 billion if fully exercised. This represents approximately 6.3% to 7% of Marvell's equity, depending on the company's eventual share count.
The twist is that these shares are tied to Google's future purchases of Marvell's custom silicon through fiscal 2033. The structure effectively makes the equity compensation contingent on Marvell generating revenue from the partnership. In other words, Google gets more Marvell stock when Marvell gets more business from Google.
This arrangement expands Marvell's role in Google's AI infrastructure and addresses bottlenecks emerging as AI models become larger and inference workloads grow. Marvell has already been building toward this opportunity with its product announcements, including PCIe 6.0 storage controllers and optical technologies designed to improve AI inference efficiency.
