Mary Blair was a talented artist who made significant contributions to Disney's visual identity in the mid-20th century. Born Mary Browne Robinson on October 21, 1911, in McAlester, Oklahoma, she spent most of her formative years in Morgan Hill.

Blair attended local schools before attending San Jose State College from 1929 to 1931 and later receiving a scholarship to the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. There, she met fellow artist Lee Everett Blair, whom she married in 1934.

Blair began her animation career at MGM before joining Walt Disney Studios in 1940. Her work on a Disney expedition to Mexico and South America in 1941 caught the attention of Walt Disney himself, leading him to name her art supervisor for Saludos Amigos (1943) and The Three Caballeros (1945).

Blair's most notable contribution was designing the colorful and whimsical style of 'It's a Small World' at Disneyland. She also designed a large mosaic mural at Disney's Contemporary Resort.
