MAX 10 Certification Imminent Says Boeing's Ortberg
Boeing's CEO Kelly Ortberg said that certification for the company's long-delayed 737 MAX 10 is coming 'very soon'. The aircraft has been in development for six years and was initially set to be certified in 2019, but was delayed due to supply chain issues and fallout from the 2018-19 MAX crisis.
The only remaining work on the MAX 10 is the documentation phase, with flight testing already complete. Ortberg noted that all three deliverables needed for certification are nearly done, and close coordination with the FAA is underway.
Boeing has also started building its first production MAX 10s in Washington, which make up roughly 30% of the company's current backlog. The European Union Aviation Safety Agency flew the MAX 10 last week and was 'very complimentary' of the aircraft.
