Maximizing Restaurant Credits from Abroad with UseYourCredits.com
A frequent traveler and points expert recently shared their strategy for maximizing $700 in restaurant credits while living abroad. The individual, who spends part of the year in Spain, uses a website called UseYourCredits.com to find participating restaurants that offer statement credits on cards like the American Express Platinum Card and Chase Sapphire Reserve.
UseYourCredits.com maps out over 11,000 Resy restaurants nationwide, but only about a third sell e-gift cards directly. To take advantage of these credits from abroad, users must purchase gift cards through the restaurant's own website or ordering page, rather than a generic third-party marketplace.
The expert recommends testing small amounts first to ensure that the credit posts correctly before reloading larger sums onto the gift card. This approach allows them to bank multiple credits into one meal, effectively doubling their dining budget for each cycle. For example, they used a $100 gift card at Launderette in Austin to cover both their Q4 2025 and Q1 2026 statement credits.
This strategy is not limited to travelers living abroad; anyone with an extended stretch outside the US or holding cards with smaller, more frequent statement credits can benefit from maximizing these credits. However, not every card makes this effort worthwhile, in some cases, the payout may not justify the work involved.
