McCourt School of Public Policy Names Aseem Prakash as New Chair

Aseem Prakash has joined the McCourt School of Public Policy as its new Chair, bringing his expertise in environmental policy and climate governance. Prakash's globally recognized scholarship explores environmental policy, climate governance, non-governmental organizations and nonprofits, as well as voluntary and private regulation.

Before joining the McCourt School, Prakash worked in the marketing department at Procter & Gamble in India and earned a joint PhD from Indiana University's Department of Political Science and School of Public and Environmental Affairs. He has also taught at The George Washington University and the University of Washington, Seattle.

Prakash is a leading voice in environmental governance, having founded the Environmental Politics and Governance (EPG) network. He is an elected fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration and the Washington State Academy of Sciences. His recent recognitions include the American Political Science Association's 2025 John Gaus Award and the Public Policy Section's 2024 Excellence in Mentoring Award.
