MCD Targets 50% Operating Margin by 2030 with NEXT Strategy
McDonald's Corporation (MCD) has outlined its NEXT strategy to reach an operating margin of around 50% by 2030. This plan combines restaurant modernization, technology deployment, and simplified operations with efforts to boost customer demand.
The company aims for approximately 250 basis points of gross restaurant-level efficiency gains as the NEXT elements are fully deployed across the US and International Operated Markets. Initiatives include updating restaurant design, streamlining operations, and implementing its generative AI-enabled ArchIQ platform at scale.
McDonald's estimates that these efficiencies will bring about roughly $100,000 in annual cash flow benefits for each U.S. restaurant on average, with the majority expected to boost profitability over time.
