McDonald's Misses Revenue Projections Amid Strong International Performance
McDonald's posted mixed second-quarter results on August 4, surpassing earnings expectations but falling short of revenue projections. The fast-food giant reported adjusted earnings per share (EPS) of $3.38, exceeding the $3.34 consensus estimate, while revenue of $7.1 billion narrowly missed the $7.14 billion forecast.
The company's international markets performed stronger than expected, with comparable sales increasing 1.5% in International Operated Markets and a whopping 1.9% in Developmental Licensed Markets. However, U.S. execution problems weighed on results, attributed to value execution issues and a weaker-than-expected FIFA marketing campaign.
Chairman and CEO Chris Kempczinski expressed optimism about the company's performance, stating that McDonald's delivered positive comparable sales growth across every segment and is 'primes McDonald's for the next era of long-term growth.'
