McDonald's Posts Strong Profits Amid US Sales Slowdown

McDonald's posted strong quarterly profits despite cautionary signs in the US market. The company earned $2.36 billion, or $3.32 per share, for the three months ended June 30.

This represents a significant increase from last year's earnings of $2.25 billion, or $3.14 per share. However, global same-store sales rose only 1.3%, down from a 2.5% increase in the same period last year.

The company attributed this slowdown to high gas prices and consumer anxiety over the US conflict with Iran. To combat these challenges, McDonald's has introduced a simplified menu called McValue, featuring 10 items that cost $3 or less.
