McDonald's reported strong second-quarter profits despite struggling sales in the US market. The company earned $2.36 billion, or $3.32 per share, beating analyst expectations of $3.32 per share.

Sales at home under pressure due to high gas prices and consumer anxiety over the conflict with Iran, but McDonald's is countering this by launching more digital offers nationally and personalizing promotions for loyal customers.

The company cited inconsistent execution across restaurants and marketing programs as a major factor in its US sales decline. Same-store sales rose 0.8% in the US, down from 2.5% last year.
