McDonald's Sets Up Shop in Scottish Borders Town for £4m
A major economic boost has been delivered to Hawick, a Scottish Borders town, with plans approved for a new £4m McDonald's fast food outlet.
The restaurant will create 100 new jobs and incorporate a 24-hour drive-thru facility, coffee shop, and electric vehicle charging hub.
The site, located on Commercial Road, is a two-acre brownfield plot that was previously occupied by Bruce Motors garage. It will also feature 38 car parking spaces.
This development follows the approval last year for a new £450m Center Parcs holiday village in Hawick, and McDonald's says it has been operating above capacity at its existing site in Galashiels.
