McDonald's Stock Price Plummets Amid Sales Decline
McDonald's Corp faces a significant challenge as it tries to boost its sagging stock price. The burger chain's shares are down nearly 31% from their February high, making this year the worst for annual returns since 2002.
The company guided for 'slightly negative' US sales in the current quarter during an investor event earlier this week. Sales last quarter rose just 0.8%, a slowest pace in over a year.
Customers have been complaining about high menu prices and changes to the in-store experience, including the loss of playgrounds and other popular features. This comes as McDonald's fights to win back cost-conscious diners who feel its menu has become too expensive.
