McDonald's Stock Slumps to Record Lows Amid Investor Worries
McDonald's stock is experiencing its longest losing streak since the dot-com boom. The fast-food giant's shares are down 24% this year, trading around $232 per share in Thursday morning trading.
The company's recent announcement of its 'NEXT' strategy has triggered investor anxiety. The $8.5B franchisee support plan running through 2036 requires significant near-term cash commitments and pushes the company's anticipated margin targets out to 2030.
As a result, McDonald's stock is on pace for its eighth consecutive weekly decline, marking the longest losing streak in over two decades if it fails to recover by Friday's close. The stock has been in negative territory over the past five years, down around 5% since then.
