McDonald's Unveils $8.5 Billion Turnaround Plan
McDonald's has unveiled an ambitious USD 8.5 billion plan to turn its business around through 2036, focusing on franchisee economics and efficiency gains.
The company aims to achieve 250 basis points of gross restaurant-level efficiency gains and a low-to-mid 50 percent operating margin range by 2030, with the Make It Golden program starting October 5, 2026, designed to improve food quality, hospitality, and consistency across the system.
McDonald's has also set a target for a 1.5 percentage-point market-share gain in both chicken and beverages by 2030, but faces the key risk of industry traffic remaining flat while inflation stays elevated.
