McDonald's Wagers Big on Tech and Franchisee Support
McDonald's is making a significant investment in its technology and operations to reverse declining traffic at its restaurants. The company has committed $8.5 billion in support for franchisees through 2036, with about $5 billion of that flowing in the coming years.
The ArchIQ platform will bring voice-activated ordering to drive-thrus, monitor inventory levels, and sharpen order accuracy across its restaurant network. This forms the backbone of McDonald's long-term NEXT strategy to standardize operations that had grown uneven from store to store.
Consumer-facing initiatives include the return of the Monopoly prize game through the company's own app, starting October 6, 2026. In selected locations, McDonald's is testing third-party advertising on digital menu boards after customers complete their orders.
