Me&u Takes on American Express and DoorDash with New Reservations Platform
Me&u, an Australian startup, has launched a new reservations platform that will compete with American Express's Resy and DoorDash's SevenRooms. The platform, called Me&u Reservations, combines booking, AI-powered customer service, and event management to optimize venue floor space and streamline operations for bars, pubs, and high-end restaurants.
Me&u CEO Kim Teo said the new product will expand the company's addressable market four times, as it can be applied to any restaurant that takes bookings. The platform began as an internal experiment 12 months ago and has allowed Me&u to develop without seeking additional funding from investors.
The company reported losses of $22.9 million in the 12 months to December 31, 2024, but is now profitable after July 2025. Teo said that despite reaching profitability, Me&u may consider raising more money from investors to finance international expansion and go-to-market efforts.
The platform will face competition from established players like American Express and DoorDash, which have invested heavily in their own booking platforms. However, Teo believes that Me&u Reservations is better aligned with the needs of operators, who prioritize optimizing for themselves rather than other incentives.
