Measles Epidemic Hits US, Trump's Vaccine Order Criticized

The U.S. has seen over 2,484 cases of measles in 2026, according to the Johns Hopkins tracker, with hundreds of children hospitalized due to complications from the disease. Dr. Daniel Griffin, an expert in infectious diseases, has criticized President Trump's executive order to split the combined MMR vaccine into three separate shots and require each vaccination to be administered at a separate medical visit.

Griffin describes the order as 'built on lies' and notes that Merck, the sole U.S. manufacturer of the MMR vaccine, has declined to rebuild its supply line due to the significant costs involved. In fact, Japan abandoned using the individual measles vaccine in 1993 after a problematic mumps strain was introduced into the combination vaccine, resulting in a collapse of vaccination coverage and subsequent outbreaks.

Meanwhile, Lancast County, Pennsylvania has reported over 230 cases of measles, with dozens of hospitalizations in communities where antivaccine advocacy took root years earlier. The outbreak is linked to seed planted by RFK Jr., who warned a crowd of 1,500 at a farming fair that 'those agencies are going to do everything in their power to make the Amish vaccinated.'
