MercadoLibre Surges 4% on JPMorgan Price Target Hike
Shares of MercadoLibre (MELI) surged 4% to $1,897.51 on Tuesday after JPMorgan Chase increased its price target from $1,900 to $2,150, indicating a potential 13% gain from the current trading level.
The upgrade came despite JPMorgan maintaining a 'neutral' stance on the e-commerce giant. This move followed impressive second-quarter results that exceeded analyst expectations for both earnings per share and total revenue.
MercadoLibre reported Q2 earnings of $9.19, surpassing forecasts by $0.54. Total revenue reached $10.17 billion, a 49.8% increase year-over-year.
A Discounted Cash Flow analysis suggests the company's intrinsic value is approximately $3,477 per share, implying undervaluation of around 48%. However, when viewed through an earnings-based lens, MELI trades at a premium P/E ratio of about 49.5x, significantly higher than the industry standard.
