Merck Beats Expectations with Strong Second-Quarter Results
Merck reported strong second-quarter results for 2026, driven by growth in its Life Science, Rare Diseases, and Semiconductor Solutions businesses. The company's group net sales rose to €5.4 billion, a 4.1% increase from the same period last year.
The science and technology group attributed its success to continued demand across Process Solutions, Rare Diseases, and Semiconductor Solutions, as well as disciplined execution and easing currency pressures.
Merk said it plans to close its proposed acquisition of Bio-Techne Corporation in the United States by late 2026 or early 2027, subject to regulatory approvals and closing conditions. The deal aims to strengthen Merck's position across the life science value chain and accelerate its strategy of delivering integrated workflow solutions.
The company also highlighted its Rare Diseases business as a strategic pillar, with sales reaching €115 million in the quarter. This growth was driven by Ogsiveo and Gomekli, treatments targeting desmoid tumors and neurofibromatosis type 1.
