Merck Foundation Celebrates World Heart Day with Nationwide Health Initiatives
Merck Foundation celebrated World Heart Day by launching its Nationwide Diabetes & Hypertension Blue Points Program in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. The program aims to build cardiovascular and diabetes care capacity in these regions through a series of scholarships and community awareness programs.
The foundation provided 956 scholarships for healthcare providers from 52 countries to pursue online PG diplomas and master's degrees in various medical specialties, including cardiology and endocrinology. This is part of Merck Foundation's commitment to creating local experts who can provide specialized care and contribute to prevention and early detection of cardiovascular diseases.
The foundation also launched a series of community awareness programs with the First Ladies of Africa and Asia, focusing on prevention and early detection of hypertension and diabetes. These programs include children's storybooks and animation films that promote healthy lifestyles among communities.
