Merck Invests €13 Million in Bengaluru Facility Expansion
Merck KGaA is investing €13 million to expand its Bengaluru facility, which has been operational since 2003. The expansion will add biological buffer manufacturing capabilities to support various contracts from R&D and commercial production.
The facility, located on a 10-acre land parcel in Jigani, Bengaluru, houses capabilities in specialty, fine chemicals, custom synthesis, and catalogue product manufacturing. It also features a microbiology application and training lab, an isotope manufacturing plant established with the Department of Atomic Energy, and a temperature-controlled distribution centre.
'India is emerging as an important hub for life science manufacturing, and we are investing in this site to strengthen regional manufacturing and expand biology and chemistry capabilities across India and the Asia-Pacific region,' said Dhananjay Singh, MD, Life Science business of Merck, India.
