Merck KGaA is relocating its Thin Films business chief to Taiwan as part of a broader strategy to shift senior technical and decision-making talent toward Asia. Bing Han, Executive Vice President of Merck's global Thin Films business, will relocate from California to Taiwan next month.

According to Ben Hein, Member of the Executive Board and CEO of Merck Electronics, the move is designed to shorten the distance between technology development, customer validation, and decision-making. He emphasized that Taiwan's innovation and R&D investment will only increase.

Merck has been streamlining its management structure to accelerate decision-making and improve collaboration with customers. The company is shifting from a business-unit model to horizontal integration, with John Lee taking on an additional role overseeing global strategic customer management.
