Merck Taps EY Vet Gaurav Gupta as New Chief Information Officer

Pharmaceutical giant Merck has appointed Gaurav Gupta as its new Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer, effective September 1. In this role, Gupta will lead Merck's information and digital organization.

Gupta joins Merck after spending over 27 years at Ernst & Young (EY), including 16 years as a Partner/Principal. He most recently served as Senior Partner in EY's Life Sciences Digital practice, where he led teams designing AI and digital solutions for the life sciences industry.

In a LinkedIn post, Gupta expressed his gratitude to Dave Williams, thanking him for his leadership, partnership, and thoughtful approach to the transition. Gupta acknowledged Williams' vision and contributions as EVP and CIDO, noting that they helped shape Merck's foundation as a digital leader in the industry.
