Merck's Eye Disease Drug Shows Promising Trial Results

Merck's experimental eye disease drug, remigromig, has shown promising results in a mid- to late-stage trial. The company announced that its medication met the primary goal of demonstrating non-inferiority when compared with the control drug ranibizumab in patients with diabetic macular edema.

This serious eye condition causes swelling and fluid buildup in the macula, which is the central part of the retina at the back of the eye. It can lead to blindness if left untreated.

The trial results will be presented at the upcoming annual meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
