Merck's Remigromig Shows Promise in DME Trial

Pharmaceutical company Merck has announced positive results from its Phase 2b/3 trial of Remigromig for the treatment of diabetic macular edema (DME). The Brunello trial met its primary endpoint, with patients receiving Remigromig showing significant improvement in visual acuity compared to those on a sham procedure.

The study involved 220 patients with DME and was designed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Remigromig. The results indicate that Remigromig is effective in improving vision in individuals with DME, which can lead to significant quality-of-life improvements for affected patients.

MERCK's Remigromig has previously been approved by the European Commission for the treatment of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD), a related condition. The success of this trial brings hope for patients with DME, who currently have limited treatment options.
