Merritt Island Home Invasion Trial: Prosecutors Present Evidence Against Three Defendants
Prosecutors in Brevard County, Florida presented evidence against three defendants charged with first-degree felony murder in connection with the 2021 shooting death of Matthew Nicol. Chase Harrison, Cory Cabaniss, and Anthony Davila are accused of participating in a home invasion on Merritt Island.
A key piece of evidence is surveillance video that allegedly shows five armed suspects arriving at a home on East Hall Road in a rented U-Haul while disguised as law enforcement officials.
Prosecutors also presented testimony about a hammer left at the crime scene, which investigators claim was purchased by one of the defendants at Home Depot the day before Nicol's killing.
The state also showed jurors cell phone records that place the defendants' phones near the same cell tower at the time of the home invasion.
