Meta Poised to Overtake Google Search in Ad Revenue This Year
Analysts at Bernstein predict that Meta will surpass Google Search in advertising revenue by the end of 2026. In the second quarter of this year, Meta captured nearly half of every incremental digital advertising dollar.
The growth in digital advertising revenue has exceeded expectations set two years ago, with analysts estimating that Meta and Google will deliver ad revenue growth at a rate less than half of what was predicted in 2024.
The expansion is largely driven by artificial intelligence (AI), which improves content recommendations, increases user engagement, reduces the time from product discovery to purchase, and enhances ad targeting and delivery. This results in higher conversion rates and stronger ad performance for Meta, Google, and other large advertising platforms.
