Meta Quest 3's Power Play: How Does It Stack Up Against Nvidia?

VR gaming requires a delicate balance between immersion and hardware power. The Meta Quest 3 headset, for example, packs a Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor that rivals a 'Rift min-spec machine,' according to Meta.

The minimum requirements for using the Oculus Rift include an Nvidia GTX 960 at 4GB, but direct comparisons between the Snapdragon and Nvidia GPUs are tricky due to differences in memory bandwidth, computational processing, and cooling.

Asking five people which Nvidia GPU is equivalent to the Meta Quest 3 would yield five different answers. Some argue that a GTX 1650 is a closer comparison, while others think a GTX 1060 or even a GTX 750 Ti is more apt.

Looking at the Meta Quest's game catalog, many titles require a minimum of a GeForce GTX 960 and 1070, respectively, but they also run on the Meta Quest 2, which is half as powerful as the Quest 3. This suggests that the Meta Quest 3 is not necessarily stronger than a GTX 960 or 1070.
