Meta Stock Surges 11.43% Amid AI Euphoria
Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META), a social media and AI-powered digital advertising company, experienced a significant surge in stock price yesterday. The company's shares closed at $741.25, up 11.43%, after Wells Fargo raised its price target to $796. This increase is attributed to the excitement surrounding Meta's Muse Personal AI Agent, which has gained popularity since its release less than two weeks ago. According to reports, Muse has surpassed other popular interactive AI agents on Apple's iOS app store.
The strong performance of Meta shares led to a significant trading volume, with 48.3 million shares traded, about 157% above the company's three-month average of 18.8 million shares. This increase in trading activity is likely due to investors' growing interest in AI progress ahead of the Meta Connect annual event this week.
The market as a whole experienced a positive day, with the S&P 500 closing at 7,764, up 1.49%, and the Nasdaq Composite finishing at 27,122, up 2.26%. Alphabet (NASDAQ:GOOGL) and Snap (NYSE:SNAP) also saw increases in their stock prices, closing at $354.97 and $5.70 respectively.
