Meta's Stock Price: Why a Split Might Not Be on the Horizon
Meta Platforms (META) is one of the most valuable companies in the world, but its stock price remains high. One share of Meta costs about $721 as of this writing.
This makes it significantly more expensive than other members of the 'Magnificent Seven', a group of tech giants that includes Microsoft (MSFT), Nvidia (NVDA), and Alphabet (GOOGL).
Meta is also notable because its stock has not been split since its IPO in 2012, even as its shares have risen to a record close of $790 in August.
The question on many investors' minds is whether Meta will split its stock soon. One reason some think it might is that Amazon (AMZN) and Nvidia both split their shares before joining the price-weighted Dow Jones Industrial Average (^DJI).
