Miami-Dade Detectives Seek Suspect in Chevron Gas Station Arson

A man is being sought by Miami-Dade Sheriff's detectives for allegedly setting fire to a Chevron gas station in southwest Miami-Dade. The incident occurred at approximately 2 a.m. on August 13, 2026, at the Chevron station located at 8698 Southwest 40th Street.

The suspect was described as an unknown male wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt, dark pants, dark shoes, gloves, and a distinctive white armband with black stripes on his left arm. He carried a bag and a cardboard sign that read, 'Cuban Lives Matter End Embargo.'

The suspect approached pump number two, placed the bag on top of the fuel pump, and intentionally set it on fire before fleeing the area. He was last seen running south on Southwest 87th Avenue from Bird Road.
