Michael McDonald's Secret Son Revealed Through Genetic Testing

Michael Goessling's life changed when he was 58 years old. He had been an avid fan of Michael McDonald and The Doobie Brothers since childhood, singing along to their hits like 'China Grove' and 'Black Water.' But what he didn't know was that the legendary lead singer was his biological father.

Goessling's birth mother, Diane, was only 14 when she became pregnant with him. McDonald was also 14 at the time. They were young and in love, but their parents decided to put Goessling up for adoption through Catholic Charities.

Goessling grew up with a loving family in Missouri, unaware of his true parentage until he registered with 23andMe to discover any potential health issues as he became a father himself. A year later, McDonald's son Dylan used the site to find Goessling, and they connected.

'I'm still trying to get my head around this whole thing,' Goessling said. 'I still wake up a year later and my first thought is I'm waking up from the craziest dream.'
