Michael Sucsy to Adapt Audible Original for Amazon MGM
Amazon MGM Studios is developing A Murder to Remember, a feature adaptation of Brynn Kelly’s Audible Original. Directed by Michael Sucsy, known for Grey Gardens, the project brings a fresh romantic thriller to the screen. The story revolves around an American art expert obsessed with Jane Austen and a charming but penniless British lord who believe they witnessed a murder after a night of heavy drinking at a crumbling English abbey. With no evidence and no one to believe them, the pair must uncover the truth before the killer strikes again.
Kelly’s audiobook, described as a mix of Knives Out and contemporary Jane Austen, was released in February 2024. Sucsy developed the project with Jackie Levine at Audible and Moritz Polter at Windlight Pictures before setting it up at Amazon MGM. He is directing from his own script and exec producing alongside key players like Rachel Ghiazza from Audible and Brynn Kelly herself.
Sucsy’s impressive resume includes the Emmy-winning Grey Gardens, starring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange, which earned 17 Emmy nominations and six wins. He also directed The Vow and Every Day, showcasing his versatility in both drama and romance. The project is backed by a strong team, including producers from Audible and Windlight Pictures, ensuring a high-quality adaptation.
