Michigan LIFT: JPMorgan and Ford Launch $1 Billion Manufacturing Push
JPMorgan and Ford have launched Michigan LIFT (Industrial Innovation & Transformation) to boost US manufacturing. The initiative, backed by the state of Michigan, will channel $1 billion in debt capital into manufacturing over ten years.
JPMorgan is the anchor capital provider, while Ford serves as the anchor industrial buyer. The bank will provide debt financing to suppliers, and the automaker plans to direct up to $1 billion of supplier work through the LIFT platform.
The setup lets large buyers post current challenges they need solved, inviting suppliers, startups, and tech companies to propose answers. This aims to lower barriers for potential suppliers so Ford and JPMorgan can vet them more efficiently.
