A 20-year-old man from Michigan has died after an apparent lightning strike in Celebration, Florida. Matthew Eric Jenkins had just started the Disney College Program and was training for the Chicago Marathon.

Jenkins' mother, Beth Jenkins, said her son arrived in Central Florida last week to begin the program. He was an avid runner who competed in cross-country during high school and played soccer since he was three years old.

According to his family, annual trips to Walt Disney World were a tradition for Jenkins, and he enjoyed running in Celebration. The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is awaiting the medical examiner's findings to determine the official cause of death.
