Microsoft Abandons $5M Village Incentive for Property Tax Relief

Microsoft has announced it will forgo its $5 million annual development incentive from the Village of Mount Pleasant. The village will instead redirect the funds to property tax relief, with about $100,000 allocated to the Racine County Economic Development Corp (RCEDC). RCEDC will receive a total of $900,000 from the redirected funds.

The decision comes after Microsoft reportedly chose not to expand its data center in Mount Pleasant. The village had offered an annual incentive package worth $5 million, but it's unclear if this was the only factor in Microsoft's decision. The Village of Mount Pleasant made no further comments on the matter.
