Microsoft has announced plans to more than double its data center capacity from approximately 12 gigawatts to over 38 gigawatts by 2032, in an effort to meet growing demand for AI and cloud services.

The expansion aims to alleviate computational power shortages that have hindered several AI and cloud service projects, and is expected to provide significant resources, potentially surpassing peak electricity demands in New York State.

Microsoft's data center capacity expansion is a strategic move to remain competitive in the technology sector, driven by surging demand for cloud computing and AI services.
