Microsoft and Aehr Test Systems Show Divergent Revenue Trajectories in AI Sector
Microsoft and Aehr Test Systems are two companies operating in the artificial intelligence (AI) sector. Microsoft's revenue has seen steady growth over the past several quarters, reaching $90 billion for the quarter ended June 2026. In contrast, Aehr Test Systems' revenue experienced extreme fluctuations, but its recent quarter saw a significant increase to $18.8 million.
Aehr Test Systems primarily generates revenue by designing and providing advanced burn-in and testing systems for global manufacturers of complex integrated circuits. Despite the volatility in its sales, the company's most recent quarter showed record bookings of $60.7 million, indicating growing demand as the AI sector expands. Microsoft's significant investment in AI infrastructure initially spooked Wall Street, causing its shares to hit a 52-week low of $349.20 in June.
However, the tech giant was able to rebound after posting earnings results for its fiscal fourth quarter ended June 30, with diluted earnings per share reaching $4.81, a substantial increase from $3.65 in the previous year. This demonstrates Microsoft's ability to invest in infrastructure while continuing to grow profits.
