Microsoft and PepsiCo Lead Record-Breaking Electric Truck Order
A coalition of major cargo owners, including Microsoft and PepsiCo, has placed an initial order for 2,500 battery-electric Class 8 trucks, making it the largest electric truck order in U.S. history.
The alliance, known as ZET SCALE, selected Tesla as its primary manufacturer after a competitive procurement process. Kenworth, RIDE, and Volvo were named as secondary suppliers for participating carriers.
ZET SCALE aims to scale the procurement model to at least 10,000 electric trucks using pooled demand and leasing to reduce financial risk.
