Microsoft Axes 268 Xbox Roles Amid Gaming Reset
Microsoft's Xbox division is undergoing significant restructuring, including the elimination of 268 roles as part of its gaming reset. The cuts affect Halo Studios, first-party studios, and Xbox Game Studios' management and central teams.
The move is part of a broader effort to strengthen Microsoft's franchises and games by operating fewer business units and aligning groups that work closely together.
Xbox Chief Content Officer Matt Booty stated the goal in a memo, 'The goal is to strengthen our franchises and games by operating fewer business units, aligning groups that already work closely together, and focusing our publishing expertise.'
Microsoft has completed about three-quarters of the gaming division restructuring it announced in July and plans to eliminate approximately 3,200 Xbox jobs during fiscal 2027.
