Microsoft Axes 277 Jobs in Washington State Amid Xbox Restructuring
Microsoft has announced another round of layoffs in Washington state, cutting 277 jobs as part of its ongoing Xbox restructuring. The largest share of affected roles belongs to artists, game designers, and producers, making up 77 out of 277 positions listed in a recent filing.
The Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) Act filing reveals that software engineering is the largest single category, totaling 60 roles. Other positions are spread across functional areas including product marketing, technical writing, product management, data science, business management, finance, and legal.
Of the affected positions in Washington state, 252 are based at Microsoft's Redmond campus, while 25 are held by remote employees in the region. This latest round of layoffs comes after Microsoft eliminated more than 15,000 positions globally across two rounds in 2025.
