Microsoft Axes Exchange Connector, Forcing Users to Migrate Workbooks

Microsoft has announced that it will be retiring its Exchange connector in Excel Power Query by April 2027. The software giant is warning users that they will need to migrate their workbook connections and switch to Microsoft 365 or Office 2024 in order to use the new Exchange Mail and Calendar connectors.

The current Exchange connector is being phased out, with a retirement timeline of October for the final phase of enforcement. This means that existing workbooks will not automatically transition to the new connectors, and users will need to reconnect their workbooks requiring Exchange Mail and Calendar data.

Microsoft has given users notice, but it has not provided a timeline for rolling out the new connectors. The company is asking administrators to identify users who actively use Exchange-connected workbooks and may be interested in participating in validation of the new Exchange Mail and Calendar connectors.
