Microsoft Axes Hundreds More Jobs Amid Xbox Restructuring

Microsoft has continued its restructuring efforts, cutting hundreds of jobs globally, including 268 roles in its Xbox Game Studios. This move is part of a larger effort to reduce costs and consolidate game studios under fewer publishers.

The company had previously announced that it would shed about 3,200 roles by the end of its fiscal year, roughly 20% of the division, as part of the restructuring process. The latest cuts are now about 75% complete, according to Xbox CEO Asha Sharma.

New details have emerged regarding the restructuring, including the fact that work on the next Halo game is moving to Activision, which Microsoft acquired in 2023 for $68.7 billion. A new team separate from the Call of Duty franchise will lead the project.
