Microsoft Brings Back Classic Outlook Look in New Optional Theme
Microsoft has taken steps to address user dissatisfaction with its New Outlook app by introducing an optional theme that mimics the look of the classic Outlook version.
The new theme, which can be enabled in Settings > General > Appearance, brings many visual elements from Outlook Classic into New Outlook, including a title bar, icons, folder list, and ribbon.
According to Microsoft's support document, the setting applies coordinated changes across the Outlook experience, including visual styling, layout, typography, icons, and selected interactions. The goal is to provide a more familiar experience for users who are transitioning from classic Outlook while maintaining the capabilities of the new app.
The changes include a dark background in dark mode, monochrome outlines for app icons, and an updated navigation bar. Even the Calendar view has been redesigned with a classic theme.
