Microsoft Brings Linux Containers to Windows with WSLC
Microsoft has announced the general availability of WSLC (Windows Subsystem for Linux Containers), which allows developers to run Linux containers on Windows. This new feature is designed to provide strong isolation between sessions and containers, with each session having its own storage VHD.
WSLC also features a new networking model compared to the existing WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux). Microsoft is promoting WSLC as an open-source project via the microsoft/wsl GitHub repository.
The company encourages developers to learn more about WSLC through its Developer Blog. With WSLC now in general availability, developers can seamlessly support Linux containers on Windows using the new wslc.exe command.
