Microsoft Brings Linux Containers to WSL
Microsoft has made an important addition to its Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL), allowing users to run Linux containers in Windows.
This feature, which is likely to be welcomed by enterprise users, will enable seamless interactions between Windows and Linux apps.
To use this new capability, users need to update WSL using the command 'wsl --update', after which they can access a new command-line tool called 'wslc.exe' and the shortcut 'container.exe'.
Microsoft has also extended its integrations with Microsoft Intune and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to support container workflows.
With this update, admins will have more control over WSL containers, including the ability to enable or disable them and restrict image pulls to approved registries.
