Microsoft Challenges MacBook with Surface Laptop Ultra: Nvidia-Powered Flagship Unveiled
Microsoft's Computex 2026 announcement has left tech enthusiasts buzzing about its latest flagship laptop, the Surface Laptop Ultra. This new device is powered by Nvidia's ARM-based RTX Spark Superchip and promises to be a powerhouse for creators, developers, and gamers.
The Surface Laptop Ultra features a 15-inch Mini-LED display with a high pixel density of 262 ppi and up to 2000 nits brightness in HDR mode. The laptop is also surprisingly thin, measuring less than 18mm thick and weighing under 2 kg (4.5 pounds).
The device boasts an impressive Nvidia RTX Spark SoC with up to 128GB unified LPDDR5X memory and 20 ARM CPU cores. This processor's iGPU follows the Blackwell architecture and has a CUDA score of 6,144, which is comparable to an RTX 5070 graphics card.
Microsoft claims that this laptop will deliver all-day battery life while maintaining performance, thanks to its new thermal system with 2.5x the thermal capacity of the previous Surface Laptop edition. Although pricing details are scarce, industry insiders speculate it could range from $3,000-$7,000.
